Default Mk6 R calliper

Is the new calliper suitable to fit the OEM size rotor being 345x32mm? I note your drawing shows a rotor size of 345x30mm. What is the weight difference between the OEM calliper and your replacement calliper? Thanks

The stock size for MK5 R32 is 345x30 not 32mm. RB kit is designed and built for 100% bolt-on w/o requiring any sort of modification.

We will post the weight of RB460 caliper so you can compare with stock and Cayenne calipers (for Cayenne caliper kit contenders).

Default Mk6 R

In Aust the mk6 R rotor size is 345x32mm. Not sure what size they have fitted to the US model.

I see. We know MK4 is 330x32, MK5 is 345x30 so MK6 is probably 345x32 in the US also.

We have 345x32 rotor ring (same as for EVO 10), If MK6 indeed is 345x32 we can standardize the kit to 345x32. - The caliper is capable to fit up to 35mm thick rotor.

Since our rotor is center mount design so change of thickness will not change the offset like surface mount rotors will.

Your list of other applications are all for MK5, while it can be possible that MK6 uses 32mm.

I would account for OE part as the official guide than aftermarket's site, although in either size 30 or 32mm we shall have rotor rings.

RB Caliper = 6.1 lbs

Cayenne Caliper= 9.0 lbs

RB caliper w/pads = 8.8 lbs

Cayenne caliper w/pads = 13.4 lbs

Total weight saving per caliper & pad = 4.6 lbs or 9.2 lbs per axle set over Cayenne kit
(RB caliper kit is 34% lighter than Cayenne caliper)

Thanks for the update and glad to see your calliper will fit regardless.

I can confirm I have 345x32mm rotors as I have replaced them with Adams Rotors, as have quite a few dubbers from Aust. Perhaps different sizes for different markets.

Anyway, looks like the callipers will fit which is what I am after initially.

Are your Adam's replacement thicker than stock?

Default OE caliper and pad weight

Anyone has R32 can contribute to this so we can all share and compare.

Thanks

nkgneto, you could be right.

I have been going back through info from when I did the rotor swap. Was told 345x32 was OEM size and which definitely is what I have put on, but not so sure now it was OEM size. Cannot find sizes through official Aust VW site.

Anyhow, I am just happy I can get a calliper to fit my current setup and will change to two piece rotors once I need to undertake a replacement.

Guys, have had a bit of interest from fellow forum members in Australia. Any sort of timeline as to when pricing might be released.

This kit will be tested on tracks in about two weeks before release.

Tentatively we schedule to release the kit for order in about 6 weeks with an estimated price of $1,480 for:
2 each of RB460 heavy duty calipers (powder coated to red)
2 each of caliper adapter (made of 7075-T6 high strength & light weight alloyed aluminum)
1 set of RB ET500 performance street pad
The above components can bolt on to MK5/6 spindle w/o any modification for an instant light weight high performance brake kit with visual appealing.

Optional
- two piece rotors
- stainless steel brake line
- blue color
- brake pad upgrade

Note for GTI and other non-R32, 18" wheel is required to fit the kit.

10 out of 10 for prompt responses, thanks for the info.

Understand that pricing is only an estimate until design, etc is finalised. Needless to say I think you will see a good flow of orders from Aust starting with mine once they are good to go.

Out of interest, do the pads have the wear indicator?

Thanks

The pad is a standard FMSI number and does not have wear sensor locator.

OE caliper with RB two piece rotors:

After 7 track days RB rotors shows almost no wear (new is 30mm)

RB caliper loaded with new pads

RB caliper + Adapter

OE caliper with used pads

OE caliper + Bracket

Replacing complicated OE brake line to stainless flexible banjo line.

Nicely clears 18" wheel (aftermarket) even under weight balancer
(OE wheel would require 8mm spacer to clear the spokes
