Since our release of two piece rotors, two 135i owners still reported unsatisfactory brake result on track.

135i brake although is adequate on street, but if you have driven or tracked your 135i hard you have probably found that the calipers are not impervious to issues. In fact numerous owners have reported problems from the track.
http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b6/wleng/IMG_0570.jpg

This thread is to discuss the possible solution to re-construct (than just rebuild) the stock calipers so they can be up to track duty.

Currently there is an offer for "rebuild" the front caliper from Turner Motorsport
Cost $450 for two front calipers:
http://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-11...-e82-135i.aspx

Here is the thread in 1addicts forum:
http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...aliper+rebuild

So I finally installed these on the four corners with Porterfield R4 S. Going to do some lapping in a week. Can't wait to see how it performs.

I had a couple of questions:

- Would pads such as Performance Friction 97 works with these RB rotors or too soft?

- I see you are developing the rear aluminum OE calipers (345 x 30), are the fronts in the works too? Why are they not recommended for track any less than the OEM calipers?

Thanks

This thread is to introduce a new concept called Progressive Upgrade and its benefits.

Traditionally as your cars go faster and get more horsepower, you normally would:

1. Find from other models that has a larger brake (bigger rotor or larger caliper) and swap to your stock or make some adapter to make them fit into your spindles.

2. Buy and install a BBK if money allows.

The concern is as always, would it really work for me, and if not what option do I have; spend more money to make it work, or give up and restore it back to stock - which puts me back to where I started???

Would there be a better option to resolve this situation?

I've had some issues with pad deposit on my 2-pc R32 RB rotors, have scrubbed the heck out of the rotors with steel wool and brake cleaner etc. to try to get them clean again. Some light crazing also happened under the areas where the deposits occurred.

Re-installed rotors with new pads after the cleaning and am still getting shuddering under hard braking just out street driving. My thought now is to have them lightly turned to get a new surface. Given the harder steel used, are there any special considerations? Thoughts?

RB two piece rotors were used by Flynmiata and Good Win Racing for their Wilwood caliper kits in the past, but is has changed since Wilwood released their own low cost kits.

We have since released our own brakes pads (ET series) primarily for two piece stock replacement rotors and our brake kits.

So far we only have MX5 pads available here:
http://www.racingbrake.com/MIATA_MX_5_s/6996.htm

Here is our recent release for motorsports:

XT910 for highly aggressive street and spirited driving.
XT960 for light to medium track with some streetability.
XT970 for dedicated track duty.

These compounds have been extensively tested by EVO advanced racers with very satisfactory result in brake torque, modulation and durability.

We are considering to expand our coverage for Miata for brake pads (for Wilwood brake kits or OE calipers) and track worthy heavy duty brake kit that is 100% designed and built by RB.

Our brake solutions covering a wide range of vehicles from lightest S2000 to heaviest and fastest GT-R, not mentioned in between popular motorsports cars like Corvette (Z06), CTS-V, CamaroSS, EVO, Sti, RX7/8 & M3 C63 & NSX etc.

We look forward to serving your Miata's braking needs.

Thank you.

This thread is to keep Z06 owners informed of RB's continuing efforts in developing a series of upgrade components for Z06 owners.

RB two piece rotors were introduced since 2007 as the first "front" and "rear" two piece stock replacement rotors along with our ET street pads and caliper bolts. Thanks to our loyal customers our business in this department continue to grow without any advertisement.

We will soon release our uniquely designed "Single Piece" brake pad. Along with this release is our newly developed motorsports compounds (XT series) brake pads, an addition to the ET (street compound) that has been favored by a lot of Z06 owners.

Our next release will be the PBR caliper rebuilding components: Including upgrade Stainless Steel Pistons, Replacement Oil Seal and Dust Boots.

We advocates to preserver and save the OE set up by upgrading the components than swapping to aftermarket BBK. RB brakes is not only budget friendly, they are made with the highest quality iron in the industry, they perform and last.

FANTASTIC ROTORS!!

I have used RacingBrake rotors for over 5 years now on two different Z06 Corvettes both on the street and on the track. This latest rear set has proven to me that RB keeps moving forward with their technology. The new sleeved hat allows confident use of the emergency brake all the time. The fit and finish of the rotors and hats couldn't be better and they look great on the car! After extended track use, and tons of heat, the rotors show minimal signs of use with none of the cracking common on the factory drilled rotors. I highly recommend them as replacements - whether for the street or the track!
